Billing, free trial and plans
How the free trial works, how you're charged, and what you can still do if your plan ends.
Free trial
New organisations get 30 days free for up to 5 venues. You don't need a card. The Billing page shows when your trial ends.
If you subscribe before your trial ends, you keep the rest of your free days. Stripe takes your card details when you subscribe, but you won't be charged until your free trial ends, on the date shown on the Billing page. Stripe emails you a reminder a week before. If fewer than 2 days of your trial are left, the first payment is taken straight away.
Until your first payment you can have up to 5 active venues, as in the trial. After it, you can add as many as you need.
If you cancel before your trial ends, you pay nothing, and you keep using the trial until its end date.
How pricing works
You pay per venue, because the Tips Act applies to each place of business. One subscription covers every venue in your organisation, and the price per venue drops as you add more. The Billing page shows today's prices.
Adding or removing a venue changes your next bill pro rata, which means you only pay for the part of the month you had it.
Subscribe
- Go to Billing in the top menu.
- Choose monthly or yearly, if yearly is offered.
- Press Subscribe and pay securely through Stripe, our payment provider. If you have a promotion code, enter it on the payment page.
If you're still in your free trial, you won't be charged until it ends, and you can have up to 5 active venues until then. A promotion code's discount counts from the day you subscribe.
Only the organisation owner can subscribe or change billing.
Change or cancel
Press Manage billing on the Billing page to update your card or cancel. If you cancel, your plan carries on until the end of the period you've paid for.
If a payment fails, Stripe tries again and you keep full access for now. Update your card in Manage billing straight away. If fees stay unpaid, we may suspend your account, as our terms explain.
If your trial or plan ends
You move to free, limited access for 90 days, so you can download your records and still meet your legal duties for tips you've already received. You can still:
- sign in and see everything
- share out tips you've already recorded, adding hours up to the date of your newest unshared tip
- mark allocations as paid and download payroll files
- download all your records
- edit and publish your tipping policy, and give workers private links
- erase workers and delete data
You can't:
- add venues or workers
- record new tips
- add hours dated after your newest unshared tip
- mark an inactive worker as active again
Good to know: The law still applies after your plan ends. Tips you've already received must be shared out and paid by their pay-by date. Subscribe from the Billing page at any time to carry on as normal.
90 days after your trial or plan ends, we permanently delete your organisation and all its records. We email your owners when it ends, 30 days and 7 days before deletion, and again the day before, with a link to every download, and the date shows at the top of every page. You must keep these records for 3 years — download them now: the records and tips CSVs on the Records page, each allocation's payroll CSV, each worker's export, and your account data on the Account page. Fairpool can't keep them for you after your plan ends. Subscribing before then cancels the deletion.
Leaving Fairpool
Before you delete your organisation, download your records from the Records page, because you must keep them for 3 years. Deleting your organisation on the Account page removes everything straight away and can't be undone.
